As the cold winter sets in, I’ve been cozying up in my kitchen, baking and cooking up a storm of delicious foods and sweets. I made some easy, savory dishes for a Sunday brunch which I’ll post about another day, you won’t want to miss it! I sent these Chocolate and Peppermint Buttercream Cupcakes to my husband’s photo studio for his clients to enjoy. Isn’t this a pretty dessert stand? It is one of my faves!
The cupcakes have crushed peppermint stick candy on top as well as peppermint extract in the icing. Here’s a close-up:
As a holiday giveaway, I whipped up some cookies using my favorite color combo, pink and brown. Yes, I know they are not traditional holiday colors, but I couldn’t resist making these!
I call them Happy Cookies because I can’t help but smile when I look at these flower sandwich cookies. I baked up two batches, one with pink peppermint creme filling and the other with vanilla filling using vanilla bean.
Here’s a closer look at those oh-so-good creme fillings!
To add some color and flavor variety to the holiday giveaway, I created these Pink Iced Star Sugar Cookies. These are thick and soft, unlike most sugar cookies I’ve tried. This is one of my new favorite recipes!
I discovered a wonderful way to package cookies over at Glorious Treats. Check out her beautiful Christmas cookies and great packaging tutorial here! Here’s what I created using her directions. Let me know what you think by leaving a comment.
Wishing you all a very happy holiday season!

Pamela, I got the cookie cutter at Michael’s and used a small round cutter to make the center circle. Can’t wait to see what cute thing you come up with!

Hi Jennifer,
Thanks for stopping by! The dessert stand was a fabulous find at HomeGoods, but I haven’t seen them there in a long time. I think there may be some floating around on eBay. They are in demand! I knew I should have bought 2 but it is so heavy and large I didn’t know where I’d put both!
Have a SWEET day!
